01Context
A personal-enrichment project carried out as a pair with Mathis, in 10th grade, from 20 to 24 June 2022 in Brittany. Me on the computing side, him on the business side: we wanted to combine our two passions, surfing and our future careers.
02Fieldwork before code
Before writing a line of code, we ran interviews: a high-level Breton longboard and stand-up paddle athlete, then other surfers, about their gear and what they knew of eco-friendly alternatives. Most didn't know any. We then called several French companies to learn about their products.
03The site
The information we gathered is organised into three themes: boards, wetsuits and accessories. A sketch of the structure first, then the design and the code in HTML and CSS.
04What I took away
Start from people before opening the editor. The site's content came from what the surfers told us, not from a blank page. And this project confirmed I wanted computing to be my career.
